The Importance of Maintaining Proper Oral Hygiene

Our Oral Hygiene Protocol

Collar & Leash Pet Shop offers a custom oral health program tailored to your pet's needs using a non-anesthetic and non-invasive method, using a safe, B-Cure cold laser and oral health sprays. We offer a free, hands-on, oral health evaluation for your pet. We'll examine your pet and walk you through each different component of your pet's oral health. We can design an oral health program specifically for your pet to ensure that they get the exact treatment needed.

The Trouble With Plaque

Plaque gives bacteria a nice environment to multiply and thrive. It can also mix with minerals in saliva to form dental calculus which you might simply know as tartar. Tartar is harder to remove than plaque, firmly affixing itself to your pet's teeth, but tartar itself is not a sign of periodontal disease. Plaque is considered foreign by your pet's immune system. When your pet's body notices foreign invaders, it sends white blood cells to try to remove or neutralize the plaque bacteria to maintain good health, releasing enzymes that break down the gums. This gradual breakdown can eventually work its way into the soft tissue and bone around your dog's mouth.
